DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING
Concepts in Community Living, Inc. will provide a trained facilitator to help guide the Board of Directors through a Self-Assessment Workshop. Board evaluation is a way to assess where the Board has been, and where it is going. It helps the Board identify how well they are meeting their responsibilities. It is a way for Board members to identify their goals and objectives. Through the Self-Assessment Workshop, the Board will develop an action plan for the organization.

Embarking on a self-assessment can be the crucial step that ensures the Board's success. The assessment is a good tool for recruiting new Board members. It brings credibility to the organization when looking for funds. This assessment process will clearly define the roles and responsibilities of the Board, of the organization, and of corporate management and staff. A written plan can help the organization's public relations and marketing plan. It helps you create and establish your image in the community. It helps provide sound planning to build a foundation of strong fiscal responsibility.

The Board sets the tone for the organization. Results of a self-assessment: the role of the Board and it's members, needed talents and skills, job descriptions, purposes of a Board meeting, and a Board that better understands itself.

RECRUITMENT PACKETS AND JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Technical support to develop written job descriptions and board training materials. These will be utilized in the recruitment of new Board members.

LONG RANGE PLANNING
A Long-Range Plan is a guide for the Board of Directors to use through their planning process for the facility. The Long Range Plan gives written definitions of our goals and is a guide for existing and future staff and Board members. It lends credibility to the organization and to their image in the community. It enhances Board and staff communications. It provides direction for everyone.
During the Long-Range Planning process, we will establish 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year goals in the plan. The plan will address many areas, including public relations, marketing, fundraising, and facility infrastructure.

MARKETING
Development of a Marketing & Image Plan will include the following elements:

  1. Quarterly marketing plan
  2. Yearly marketing plan
  3. Design print ads for newspapers
  4. Design print ads for other community publications
  5. Develop promo ads for radio and TV
  6. Work with Board of Directors and facility director to enhance public relations and image of the facility
  7. Assess community markets to understand competition and how to capitalize on attributes of the facility
  8. Work with the Board on how best to capitalize on the non-profit status of the organization
  9. Provide monthly community relations visits from CCL's marketing person in your community for speaking engagements, one-on-one marketing of services, and other special events or engagements

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
A plan will be developed for fundraising efforts. In the plan, we will identify specific ways to raise dollars for the non-profit organization: special events, direct mailing campaigns, donor walls, planned giving, and an array of other fundraising programs that can be implemented by the organization. Technical assistance can also be provided to design and implement "special event" activities and coordinate volunteers and/or community civic organizations and businesses that may wish to co-sponsor the event.

GRANT WRITING
Grant opportunities for the organization will be researched and grant proposals will be prepared.

EXECUTIVE STAFF ASSISTANCE TO THE BOARD
We recognize that a staff person's expertise can be an asset to a Board, and that small, not-for-profit organizations have limited resources. We have the ability to provide you with a CCL staff person who has the knowledge and experience working with boards to serve as a staff person to your Board of Directors and help you carry out your goals. We know that planning is a powerful tool, but follow-through is the most important step to success. We can provide the technical expertise and staffing to help you.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
Workshops and seminars will be conducted for board members and staff on a variety of topics: customer service, attracting new residents, community image, team building, recruiting Board members, etc. Full-day and half-day workshops may be developed and tailored to meet specific needs or problems the Board or staff wish to address.
