Independent Living (IL) Community
Independent living (IL) community, also known as senior housing, retirement community, congregate care.
Independent living communities are designed for those who don’t want the demands of home-ownership, but do want to continue to live independently. Residents generally rent their apartments, and building staff may or may not live on site. These residences tend to offer security, access to common areas, activities, and some form of emergency call service. The term congregate care will usually indicate that extra options like meals and housekeeping are available. The term senior affordable housing usually means that residents must meet certain income restrictions to live there. Rent subsidies are often available to qualifying tenants.
CCL manages several excellent retirement and senior affordable apartments. Click here to find a CCL community.
