Fire Suppression System
Buildings are fully sprinkled. All areas of the building are covered by fire sprinklers . including the attic, covered outside porches, and closets.

Fire Resistant Construction
Buildings are designed in such a way that should a fire start in one section of the building, other parts of the building can be isolated from the fire. This ability to isolate differing portions of the building lessens considerably the likelihood that the entire building will have to be evacuated during a fire, an evacuation that could lead to numerous injuries in itself.

Fire Alarm and Monitoring System
The buildings are equipped with a state of the art alarm and monitoring system. The System monitors smoke and heat detectors, alarm pull stations and the sprinkler system. At the first sign of trouble, the System automatically calls a central monitoring station. The central monitoring station, which operates 24 hours per day, will then call the building to notify staff or find out the problem. If staff do not answer the call from the monitoring station, the station will dispatch the fire department or emergency personnel.

Two-way Call System
Each apartment unit in the buildings have a two-way call system that can be used in an emergency. The resident pulls the cord in the apartment (there are two or three in each unit depending on size). When the cord is pulled, the System notifies staff at the front desk or by pager so the staff can respond to the exact location. In addition, the System can be adapted to allow a resident to activate the call system from a pendant worn around the neck - this system is especially useful for residents who may be unable to reach the pull cords.

Controlled Exiting System
All exit doors are alarmed and monitored to alert staff that someone has left the building and the front door has a coded keypad for entry and exit. The system is designed so that people with cognitive impairments cannot leave the building without alerting staff. We can turn the system off if desired, such as when there are no residents who might forget and wander away.
